This course will give elements to distinguish between the different types of sedimentary basins, associated structures, and geodynamic context. Comprehend the thermo-mechanical structure of rift basins throughout their evolution. Acquire familiarity with the structure and stratigraphy of some typical sedimentary basins. We will also cover elements of petroleum geology related to petroleum systems and hydrocarbon generation, migration, and accumulation. Ultimately, we will develop competencies to analyze and integrate different types of geological, geophysical and geochemical data to assess the potential hydrocarbon generation of a sedimentary basin.
