Inactivity is a serious public health problem. The last century has been the cradle of our societies' modernization and automation, favoring the occurrence and development of sedentary opportunities and behaviors. According to WHO, Approximately 2 million deaths per year are attributed to physical inactivity, prompting WHO to warn that a sedentary lifestyle could very well be among the 10 leading causes of death and disability worldwide. Therefore these facts, KNES 393 aims to teach Kinesiology students about the burdens of physical inactivity and the benefits of physical activity. The other aim of the class is to teach Kinesiology students about lifetime sports philosophy, the art and science of teaching, and teaching styles and approaches.

Study of bones and muscles as they are involved in the science of movement. Analysis of the musculoskeletal system includes joint actions; origins, insertions, actions, and innervations of muscles; and neuromuscular control aspects necessary for functional movement. Pre-Athletic Training Concentration students must receive a "C" or better in this course.
