Capstone course. Students gain experience in a newsroom environment, producing and editing content for a local/regional wire news service for Acadiana. Students will rotate in reporting, editing, multimedia, social media, and production roles throughout the semester, covering local public affairs issues for online publication. Students will finish the course with an online portfolio summarizing their college journalism career as they prepare to enter the workforce.

In-depth analysis of U.S. laws and regulations affecting communication, especially the mass media, including ethical standards.

Foundations of artificial intelligence, search, reasoning, and planning. Machine learning, supervised learning, data and feature engineering, regression, decision trees, neural networks, unsupervised learning, clustering, dimensionality reduction. Natural language processing. Ethical issues.

Methods and procedures for identification, evaluation and management of speech sound disorders in children and adults.

Assessment and treatment of voice and fluency disorders. Focus is on anatomical, physiological, acoustic and theoretical models.

Topics related to social action and diversity/equity/inclusion/belonging as they relate to communicative disorders and professional practice. Readings and discussions will emphasize current research in social action and DEIB. May be repeated for credit when topics vary.
